Numerous studies indicate that parental attitude, support and involvement are important factors in a child’s ability to successfully learn to play and to enjoy music. If you can attend the lesson some or all of the time, this would be helpful. At home, listen and help during practice time. One way to assist would be to point to the music as the student is playing. Another way to help would be to play the recording of their music all the time not just at the practice session.
